About Orca

At 13 years old, Orca’s founders were working on the dock, unloading containers from CP Rail at one of Canada’s largest transportation companies. Over time, they moved through accounting and operational roles, learning what made an asset-based trucking company successful. The lesson was clear: success did not come from technology alone.

Later, Matt and Marco helped run departments inside a mid-sized Canadian 3PL, where they needed more reliable data for weekly decision-making. As operators first, they saw the problem firsthand. When they searched for a freight audit and payment provider in 2014 and 2015, they were disappointed by the level of technology available and by the industry’s lack of emphasis on data collection, cleansing, and usability. Freight audit had been stuck in the past. Legacy providers were missing the data opportunity, relying on rules-based systems that caught obvious errors but missed the patterns, anomalies, and cost leakage that mattered most to the bottom line.

We founded Orca because we saw a gap in a niche market and, as operators with experience on both the asset and non-asset sides of transportation, knew the industry could do better. Freight audit had the potential to unlock insights for transportation, finance, and executive teams, but shippers, retailers, and manufacturers did not have the answers they needed. With over a decade of experience in freight, transportation, warehousing, and distribution, we saw how much value was being left on the table, and we built Orca to unlock it.
